HELP!  I've never exhibited at a show before!  How to I get started?  Click here for information on entering and showing your cat for the first time.


Show Hall:  BJCC East Exhibit Hall 3, 2100 Richard Arrington Jr. Blvd N, Birmingham, AL  35203.  This is a no outside food facility.

Show Hotel – Sheraton Downtown Birmingham – 2101 Richard Arrington Jr. Blvd N, Birmingham, AL  35203.  Call 205-324-5000 to make reservations and tell them you are with Alabama Paws & Claws Exhibitors.  Nightly rate for 2 guests, $139, $149 for 3 and $159 for 4.  Free wifi and FREE airport shuttle to this all in one facility.  Self parking is $8 a day (and those not staying onsite will also have to pay for parking.)  There is a REFUNDABLE pet deposit of $100.  If you have any issues with this after the event, please contact show management.  Book online at (linked on the website) https://www.starwoodmeeting.com/events/start.action?id=1708166888&key=28C80F5F.

A deposit equal to one night plus taxes will be charged at the time reservations are made and it will be applied to the guest stay.  The deposit is refundable as long as the reservations are cancelled at least 48 hours prior to arrival and a cancellation number is obtained.

We will be following TICA Hotel Inspection Guidelines.  Hotel is full service and Uptown is next door with multiple restaurants and a designated entertainment district – drinks to go!

Airport Transportation:  Fly into Birmingham International Airport (BHM) and take advantage of the free airport shuttle.  Rental cars are also available, but can also be obtained at the Enterprise location downtown if you only need a car for a day.  Please visit the website to explore rental options.

Handicapped mobility options:
Need to rent a wheelchair or scooter for the weekend?  The following companies provides rental services.  The club does not have a contract with these companies and is providing this information as a service to our exhibitors who require additional mobility options:

Show Hours: Check-in will be from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. Saturday, 8:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. on Sunday.  Judging will begin promptly at 9:00 AM on Saturday and Sunday.  Advertised show hours for the public are 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM each day.  Permission from show management must be obtained to leave earlier.

Junior Exhibitor Ring:  A JE Ring judged by (TBA) will be held in the Education Ring on Sunday.

Registration: Preliminary & Advanced New Breeds and New Traits must be registered to enter and compete.  While it is not necessary for cats, kittens, alters or household pets to be registered with TICA to compete, registration is necessary for your entry to be scored for titles, regional and international awards.  To obtain information about registration with TICA call 956-428-8046, e-mail to registration@tica.org, or write to the TICA Executive Office at P.O. Show Rules: TICA show rules and related rules will be strictly enforced.  By entering, exhibitors agree to abide by these rules and the decisions of the judges and show committee.  Official show rules may be obtained from the TICA Executive Office for a fee.  Contact information for the TICA Executive Office can be found in the previous paragraph. Awards: All entries will receive a single rosette and rosette bars will be awarded in the rings for finals in accordance with TICA Show Rules.

Health: This is a non-vetted show.  Any cat showing signs of illness, parasites or fungus will be escorted from the show hall, along with any other cats owned, housed, or agented by the same exhibitor.  All entries should be vaccinated against feline viral rhinotracheitis, calici and distemper (panleukopenia), and should test negative for feline leukemia and FIV (feline AIDS).   TICA show rules require all claws, front and back, be clipped prior to judging.

Kittens: All kittens (pedigreed or HHP) entered for competition must be at least 4 months old, but less than 8 months old, on the day of the show.  Kittens in the show hall for sale and/or exhibition must be at least 3 months old.

Household Pets: Household Pet Adults (8 months old and up) must be spayed/neutered.  Household Pet Adults are judged in 32 color/pattern divisions the same as pedigreed cats.  If you are not sure which color and/or pattern class your cat belongs in, please send a color picture of your cat with your entry.  Photos will be returned at check-in.  You will also have an opportunity Saturday morning to have the senior judge make a final determination if the color/pattern is still in question.

Benching & Supplies: Each entry will be provided a single benching cage measuring 22"L x 22"W x 22"H and are provided with each entry.  Full cage size is 44"L x 22"W x 22"H.  You may pay extra with a single entry to have the full (double) cage for your cat.  All cages must be covered on the sides and top.  You may want to bring a rug, blanket, etc. for the bottom of the cage and other items to help your cat feel more comfortable.  No more than one adult cat or 2 kittens are allowed per single cage.  You will need to bring litter pan(s), food bowls, and food.  Litter will be provided.

For Sale/Exhibition Cages: For sale/exhibition cages are available ONLY for exhibitors with other cats entered for competition.  See Summary Sheet for price.

Clerks & Stewards: ARE NECESSARY FOR THE SHOW TO HAPPEN!  If you would like to clerk, please indicate so on your summary sheet, along with any judge preferences.  Licensed clerks will be given priority and judge requests will be honored to the best of our ability.  Clerks will be compensated $80 for two days or $40 for one day, plus lunch and a marked catalog.  Stewards may also be needed.  Please let us know if you have someone available.

 For the comfort of our exhibitors and spectators: The show hall area will be designated as non-smoking.  Children are always welcome at our shows, but for the enjoyment of all, we request that youngsters be supervised at all times.  Show management reserves the right to ask parents to control or remove disruptive children as well as any other disruptive exhibitors, spectators, etc.

Liability: Neither Alabama Paws & Claws, TICA, BJCC, or Sheraton Downtown Birmingham or any other hotels can be held liable for loss, theft, accident/injury to animals, personal property, exhibitos, or their guests.
