SHOW HALL & HOTEL: Doubletree Miami Airport & Convention Center, 711 NW 72 nd Avenue, Miami, Florida, 33126 305-261-3800 (www.doubletreemiamimart.com). Room rate is $129 with a $75 REFUNDABLE pet deposit, regardless of how many nights you stay. Deluxe rooms are $25 additional, and suites are $75 additional. Rates are good from 2nd March through 13th March, and you must mention ALLCATS to get this rate. This rate is available until February 2nd, 2014. You can reserve by calling the hotel directly or toll-free at 888-353-1995, or email reservations@doubletreemiamimart.com. There is a 72-hour cancellation policy (you will be charged one night’s stay if not cancelled before 5 p.m. three days prior to your arrival date). Self-parking fee is $7/night, valet parking is $12/night.

Please make every effort to leave your room in the condition it was found, or better . Tipping housekeeping staff doesn’t hurt – happy staff doesn’t complain to management! Trash bags & litter will be available for your convenience. If you need assistance, please let show management know and we will do whatever we can to help. The condition of your room reflects on the entire cat fancy, and it only takes one mishap to lose a hotel forever. Please also be respectful of the entire facility, including the public areas, hallways, restrooms and showhall, so that we may return to this beautiful site. Please confine spraying males (and females!) & clean up after yourself and your cats so we will be welcome here again. TICA Hotel Guidelines will be followed.

The hotel has an excellent restaurant, with many other restaurants within easy walking distance. The hotel shuttle will happily take you to other local restaurants and nearby attractions. The hotel/convention center complex is also home to the Miami International Merchandise Mart, a large mall with importers selling directly to the public – come prepared to SHOP!

TRANSPORTATION : Most major carriers fly into Miami International Airport (MIA). The hotel offers a FREE shuttle service. Taxis and car rentals are also available at the airport. The hotel is about 10 minutes from the airport terminal, but please leave plenty of time for your departing flight (we recommend flights leaving 6:00 p.m. or later). Fort Lauderdale Airport (FLL) is another option, about an hour away (depending on traffic) – you will need to rent a car if you fly through FLL.

SHOW HOURS : Friday early check-in will be from 6-8 p.m. in conjunction with our Welcome Reception. Saturday morning, check-in will continue from 7:00-8:30 with judging starting PROMPTLY at 9:00 a.m. Advertised show hours will be 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. both days. Please plan to remain in the showhall during advertised show hours, so our spectators can enjoy your cats.

SHOW RULES : TICA show rules will be strictly enforced. By entering, exhibitors agree to abide by the decisions of the judges and show committee. Official show rules, registration information & forms may be obtained from TICA, P.O. Box 2684, Harlingen, TX 78551 or on the web at www.tica.org.

Payment: By entering the show, you agree to pay all fees whether you attend the show or not. Fees must be received no later than the closing date of 26 February 2014. Payment may be sent via PayPal to Allcats2014@gmail.com. The club reserves the right to require payment in cash or money order. Unfortunately, due to the irresponsible behavior of some exhibitors, we must require that all payments be received by the time the catalog is printed and NO PAYMENTS OF ANY KIND WILL BE ACCEPTED AT THE DOOR. Entries belonging to exhibitors on TICA’s Temporary or Permanent Suspension lists will not be accepted. ALLCATS Cat Club will pursue any debt owed us to the extent of TICA show rules and Florida law.

Registration : Except for the New Traits or Preliminary & Advanced New Breed classes, registration with TICA is not required to compete. However, to be scored for TICA titles and regional / International awards, all cats must be registered prior to their second show. Household Pet adults must be spayed or neutered to be eligible to compete. Declawed cats may compete in all classes.

Local Restrictions : Neither the state of Florida nor Miami-Dade County restrict exhibition of domestic breeds which originated from non-domestic crosses. Bengals, Savannahs, etc. are welcome to participate under the same policies as traditional breeds. (Note, if you are travelling with a dog, however, be aware that Miami-Dade does unfortunately ban pit bulls.) See below regarding state rabies and health certificate requirements.

Health : This is a non-vetted show. Any cat showing signs of illness, parasites (including fleas) or fungus will be escorted from the showhall, along with any cats owned, housed, transported or agented by the exhibitor. All entries should be vaccinated against feline viral rhinotracheitis, calici and distemper (panleukopenia) at least two weeks prior to the show, and should test negative for feline leukemia and FIV ("feline AIDS"). Florida law requires any animal over the age of 4 months be vaccinated against rabies within the last 12 months (be prepared to show proof)! TICA show rules require all claws, front and back, be clipped prior to benching.

For Sale: Sales cages will be available to exhibitors. TICA rules allow no more than two kittens or one cat benched in a single cage. No kitten under 3 months of age will be allowed in the showhall, and no kittens or cats may be confined to carriers or kept under benching cages during show hours. Florida requires health certificates accompany any animal sold in the state. If you are bringing cats or kittens to sell, ALLCATS Cat Club strongly advises you familiarize yourself with the applicable statutes, particularly Florida’s Pet Lemon Law, and takes no responsibility for your failure to do so.

SUPPLIES: Cat litter will be available, but please bring your own litter pan! Each entry will be assigned a single cage, approx. 22" X 22" X 22". Grooming spaces measure approx. 22” x 44 ”. For the protection and safety of your cat and those around you, please bring suitable covering for sides, top and bottom of the cage. If you are bringing your own cage, you must pay for an even number of single benching spaces. The entry clerk will gladly help you determine what you need.

MOBILITY SCOOTERS : Mobility/medical scooters can be reserved through Family Rentals for $89-$159 for 2 - 7 rental days. If there are several requests for the same day drop-off or pickup, there will be one delivery charge. Specify MIAMI CAT SHOW when reserving.

AGILITY COMPETITION : Jill Archibald, CFA Agility Chair, will be running an Agility ring at the show. For more information on how this ring will work and who can participate, see our Agility page.

JUNIOR EXHIBITORS: A junior exhibitor's competition will be held during the show. Rosettes will be awarded to all participants and trophies to the top-three scoring participants.

SPECTATOR'S CHOICE: The three cats receiving the most votes by the spectators will be awarded trophies.

PARADE OF BREEDS: We want to showcase all the wonderful breeds recognized by the
WCC associations. Do you have a beautiful representative of your breed that is not going to be in competition at the show that can be an ambassador of your breed? If so, contact Laurie Patton (pirateslairmc@aol.com) to sign up. First come, first served on the breeds. Contact Laurie now so you don't miss out.

A few specifics on the PARADE OF BREEDS cats ...

  • To keep a uniform, professional appearance, a double cage will be provided by the club for each cat with an identical setup including brand-new cage draping, pad, bed litter box, and food/water bowls. All you need to provide is your lovely cat and his or her food!
  • The cost to have a cat in the Parade of Breeds is $30, but you get to take home the pad, bed, litter box, food/water bowls and maybe a few surprised! - a $60+ value!
  • No business cards, cattery signs, or advertising will be allowed on the cages.
  • The cats will be presented twice on Saturday and twice on Sunday by an Allbreed judge who will discuss the breed and its history.
  • The Parade of Breeds will be set up in a room separate from the showhall. However, when not being presented, the Parade of Breed cats will be supervised by one or more judges.
  • You will be able to visit and tend to your cats throughout the day. You will be given an ID so those supervising the cats will know that you have a cat in the Parade of Breeds.

CLERKS: Are indispensable! Ring clerks will be reimbursed one day's entry fee per day clerked, plus lunch, soft drinks and a marked catalog, not to mention our undying gratitude. Requests for specific judges will be considered but are subject to approval by the show committee. Licensed TICA clerks will be given preference, and due to the scale of this show, clerks experienced with large, international shows are preferred.

AWARDS: Rosettes and plaques will be awarded in accordance with TICA show rules. Rosettes and trophies will be awarded to the top-3 highest scoring cats, kittens, alters, household pets, and household pet kittens in show. Additional special awards may be presented. If you wish to sponsor a ring or any special awards, please contact the entry clerk.

FINE PRINT: NEITHER ALLCATS CAT CLUB, DOUBLETREE MIAMI AIRPORT, NOR TICA MAY BE HELD LIABLE FOR LOSS, THEFT OR DAMAGE TO ANIMALS, PERSONAL PROPERTY, EXHIBITORS OR THEIR GUESTS.

PAYPAL: The club accepts PayPal payments sent to allcats2014@gmail.com
