In the spirit of cooperation fostered by the World Cat Congress, the CFA Agility Ringmaster, Jill Archibald, will be at the show running a CFA scored Agility ring! Not only will CFA eligible participants be scored for CFA Agility regional and national awards, but the fastest ten running cats, whether scored or not, will be recognized with rosettes at the end of the weekend and the fastest three running cats will also receive trophies.

You don't have to be a CFA registered cat to participate in the competition and enjoy the fun. However you do need to be an agility entry at the show. Spectators cannot bring their beloved pets to the show just to run agility. However, Jill will have experienced "demonstrator" cats the public can run to try out this fabulous and fun sport.

  • If your cat is entered for competition in regular show judging, you can enter the agility ring for $10. You can pre-enter or enter at the show.
  • You can also enter your cat as an agility only entry for $30. Agility only entries include 1/2 double cage space. Additional space can be purchased. Agility-only entries must be entered before the show closes for entries.
  • Agility-only entries can be breeds accepted by TICA, breeds accepted by other associations - but not accepted by TICA, or household pets.
  • Non-domestic hybrids with a non-domestic ancestor within the first three generations will be permitted only with preapproval by show management.

Entries ineligible for Agility competition include those entries prohibited by TICA show rules including:

  • (23.4) Cats or kittens obviously pregnant are ineligible for competition.
  • (23.6.2.1) Any cat or kitten from a house or cattery where there has
been fungus or any infectious or contagious illness within 21 days prior to the
opening date of the show is ineligible for entry and/or exhibition.
  • (23.8.1) No kitten under the age of 3 calender months is permitted in the
show hall under any circumstance. (Note: While 3 month old kittens are allowed in a TICA showhall, CFA rules will not allow 3 month old kittens to be scored even if the breed itself is accepted for CFA scoring.)

To enter your cat in Agility, fill out an entry form and indicate that the entry is an Agility entry. Also make sure to indicate your Agility entries on your summary sheet.

What? You don't know about agility? You think only dogs can jump over obstacles and through hoops? Cats can do so as well! Even little kittens can be trained as you can see in this video provided by the CFA Agility website.

Check out the CFA Agility website for more information on what types of obstacles the cats will face, how cats are scored, the types of titles they can earn, as well as more videos and information on training your cat to be an agility star!

If you have any questions about the competition, contact Jill Archibald (jellyb1083@aol.com). She will be happy to answer any questions you might have.
