Want
to participate in the CFA show but your cat isn't CFA registered?
There are varous options available to you depending on the class
your cat will be competing in.
Kittens (4-7 months of age)
Kittens may be show without a registration number, but they will not be scored.
However, kittens can be shown with a Temporary Registration Number (TRN). and scored for regional/national wins.
Championship cats (cats 8 monhts of age or older that HAVE NOT be spayed/neutered)
Championship cats can be shown without a registration number as a NOVICE - but they will not be scored.
Cats
can be shown with a Temporary Registration Number (TRN) and will be
entered as OPENs and can compete, and obtain points, towards titles and
regional/national wins.
Premiership cats (cats 8 months of age or older that HAVE been spayed/neutered)
Alterned cats can be shown without a registration number as a NOVICE - but they will not be scored.
Altered cats
can be shown with a Temporary Registration Number (TRN) and will be
entered as OPENs and can compete, and obtain points, towards titles and
regional/national wins.
Household pets (4 months of age or older. 8 months of age and older must be spayed/neutered)
Household
pets are not separated into separate kitten and adult classes.
Household Pets do not need to be registered (called "recorded" in
CFA) to compete but must be recorded by, or at, the show to be
scored for titles and regional/national awards.
You can find the Household Pet recording information here. You can also give the form and fee to the master clerk at the show for inclusion with the show materials.
So, what in the cat fancy is a TRN how do I get one?
A
TRN - or temporary registration number - can be assigned by the entry
clerk allowing the cat to be shown and scored for the show -
assuming the cat is registered after the show.
To request a TRN this form
needs to be filled out and submitted to the entry clerk along with a
copy of the cat's registraion certifcate from another association (TICA
for example) and an official pedigree from that association. The
number of generations required in that pedigree depend on the breed.
You can find the requirements by breed here.
For more information on TRNs, see this FAQ. Note that while this document discusses 4 generation pedigrees, some breeds require more generations, and some less.
The entry clerk (listed below) will be glad to help you through the process.
One
final note: Some of the color names are different between TICA and CFA.
The entry clerk can help you translate if needed.
