Thirty-five
years ago a group of cat fanciers and enthusiasts met in Point Lookout,
Missouri.
They
envisioned the world's most progressive and modern cat association
where all
members had a voice and a vote and all cats from pedigree cats to
household
pets would be judged and recognized equally.
They also envisioned a newsletter (The Trend)
to keep the membership
informed, and a yearly publication (the TICA Yearbook) to showcase all
the
winners and preserve the association's history. Last, but not least,
they
envisioned the most rigorous and respected judges' program in the cat
fancy.
That weekend,
their vision became The International Cat Association (TICA), the
world's
largest genetic registry of cats.
Over the
last 35 years we (as an association) have made many positive changes.
However,
we should never forget our roots and the reasons TICA was originally
formed.
We need to
continue to expand our vision and "Move TICA Forward" by continuously
updating our computer
services to include pedigrees by e-mail, complete litter registrations
and
continuous tracking of our experimental,
foundation and established breeds.
We must
re-focus our efforts on celebrating our cats at the regional and
international
level.
The Annual
Awards Ceremony should be the biggest celebration of the year, where we
celebrate the wins of our cats and acknowledge the best of best in each
breed.
We need to
always celebrate our cats, because after all, that is why we are here
in the
first place....... It's All About The CATS!
