IMPORTANT: We have confirmed the show the weekend before us will be allowing spectators.  We have contracted some of the same judges and anticipate some shared exhibitors.  In the interest of openness and full disclosure, we want all entering our show to be aware of this potential unintentionally increased exposure.  In light of this, we do plan for very stringent enforcement of our COVID rules to aid in keeping everyone safe/healthy.  Be prepared to stay vigilant throughout the weekend.

COVID-19 CONSIDERATIONS:
Due to the ongoing Covid19 pandemic, Alabama Paws and Claws will enforce the following social distancing requirements. By entering the show, you are committing to agree to these requirements.  These requirements may be expanded, or relaxed, depending on CDC, state, county, or city requirements at the time of the show.
  • The show will be closed to the public all days.
  • There will be a MAXIMUM OF 125 EXHIBITORS (AND ASSOCIATED INDIVIDUALS) allowed in the showhall.  When you enter the show, you will be asked the names of the people in your party who are 2 years of age and older.  The number of people in your party cannot exceed the number of cats you have entered in the show.  For example, if you have one entry – you can only have one person in the showhall.  If you have three entries – you can have a maximum of three people.  However, we encourage that you limit the number of people in your party to allow others to be able to enter the show.  By show rules we can take 250 entries, but with Covid we can’t take more than 125 people showing those cats.
  • Anyone with a temperature of 100 F or above, and those traveling with them, will not be allowed in the showhall. You will also need to certify that you have not had symptoms nor have been in contact with someone who has tested positive for Covid-19 within the prior 14 days.  Your temperature will be taken at the door and you will need to fill in your certification EACH DAY so plan extra time at check-in.  You will not be allowed in the showhall prior to check-in hours.
  • Everyone must properly wear a mask according to CDC guidelines (must cover nose, mouth, and chin) while in the showhall unless actively eating/drinking and in a seated location (benching area, ring, or other designated area). You may also remove your mask when seated at your benching area.  In other words, “Stand up – mask up!”  Anyone not wearing their mask correctly will be reminded of the requirement and those continuing to not wear a mask correctly will be asked to leave the showhall. Masks WILL NOT be provided by the club. Please bring your own mask that meets the requirements. Face shields cannot be used without a mask.
  • A social distancing space will be left between exhibitor’s benching spaces.  This space is to be left open and cannot be used for grooming or other uses.  If you are coming with a group of friends, and do not require social distancing spaces between members of your group, please communicate the names of your group members to the entry clerk.
  • If you require additional physical space for people or things, the club strongly encourages you to purchase a grooming space.  For example, if you enter 2 cats, benched in one double cage, and you have two exhibitors and a stroller, large grooming table, etc. you might need more physical space than the 44” space allotted to you. Since grooming spaces might be limited, we suggest entering early if you think you will need additional space.  For social distancing, your party and gear must remain within your designated benching area unless mutually agreed upon by all affected parties.
  • We will have a food truck available on Saturday and Sunday!!  Feel free to bring food on Friday and we will try to get out as early as possible on Friday.

Show Hall:
Anniston Meeting Center, 1615 Noble Street, Anniston, AL  36202.  There is no onsite concession so please feel free to bring your own food (but not (open) alcohol).  We will break for folks to have time to run out for food each day.  There are multiple fast food restaurants within 5 minutes, Waffle House is walking distance.  Please put ALL trash in appropriate receptacles, not under cages.

Show Hotel -   LaQuinta Inn & Suites, 100 Colonial Drive, Oxford, AL  36203, 256-241-0950.  They are offering a rate of $TBD plus tax for 2 doubles or (limited) king bedded standard rooms.  The usual LQ amenities are available – free breakfast with hot items (subject to COVID-19 restrictions), free wifi, NO additional pet fee if booking in our block.  Call the hotel DIRECTLY at 256-241-0950 and mention AL Paws & Claws EXHIBITORS block for this rate.  We will be following TICA Hotel Inspection Guidelines.  Please leave your room as you found it so we may continue to use this facility.  There are other pet friendly hotels in the area, including a Red Roof and Motel 6 (at exit 185).  Others with a pet fee include Sleep Inn and Quality Inn (at exit 188 with LQ.)

PLEASE – No matter where you choose to stay, take care to leave your room in good condition.  After finances, one of the biggest reason clubs/shows end up giving up is difficulty finding hotels.  All it takes is one irresponsible guest to turn hotels against having pets.

Airport:  Fly into Birmingham International Airport (BHM) or Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson Airport (ATL).   If flying into BHM, please try to book return flights at or after 6pm Sunday, recommend 8pm (Eastern) or later for ATL.

Benching & Supplies: Each entry will be provided a single benching cage measuring 22"L x 22"W x 22"H.  Full cage size is 44"L x 22"W x 22"H.  There is no single cage benching at this show.  All cages must be covered on the sides and top.  Recommended to bring a rug, blanket, etc. for the bottom of the cage and other items to help your cat feel more comfortable.  No more than one adult cat or 2 kittens are allowed per single (i.e. half a fulld double) cage.  You will need to bring litter pan(s), food bowls, and food.  Litter will be provided.

Liability: Neither Alabama Paws & Claws, TICA, Anniston Meeting Center, or any area hotels can be held liable for loss, theft, accident/injury to animals, personal property, exhibitors, or their guests.
