Show Hall: The Bessemer Civic Center (1130 9th Avenue SW, Bessemer, AL 35022) is located at exit 10B off of I-59/20. Fly into Birmingham International Airport (BHM). Airport shuttle/transportation information is listed below.

Show Hotel: Best Western Bessemer, 205-481-1950, 5041 Academy Lane, Bessemer, AL 35022. Group rate is $72.00 and covers 2 cats per night. They will count tents/cages/litter pans to count. There are side entrances. We have a block being held until June 28, 2006. Tell them you are with Alabama Paws & Claws group to get this rate. For those that are flying, there are several restaurants and stores in the immediate area. RESERVE EARLY!!! It could be drill weekend again.

Airport Shuttle Service/Transportation: Rental cars can be obtained at the airport for reasonable rates; however, if you would prefer to use a shuttle, please call Executive Shuttle Service (Eshuttle) at 205-702-4566 to arrange for airport pickup. The rate to the show hotel will be about $30. Their website is www.eshuttle.net. We will be organizing airport runs from the show hall Sunday afternoon and will organize transportation to/from the hotel/show hall as needed. Please contact Honey Gilmore by phone or e-mail with your travel details by Monday before the show (July 24, 2006).

Show Hours: Check-in will be from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. both days. Judging will begin promptly at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday and 9:00 a.m. on Sunday. Advertised show hours for the public are 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. each day.

Registraton: With the exception of Korats, it is not necessary for cats, kittens, alters, or household pets to be registered with TICA to compete. Registration is necessary for your entry to be scored for titles, regional, and international awards. Championship cats, kittens, alters, and household pet adults will only be scored once without registration. Show Rules: TICA show rules and related rules will be strictly enforced. By entering, exhibitors agree to abide by these rules. Show rules may be obtained from the TICA Executive office or at this link. Contact information is listed in the previous paragraph.

Awards: Rosettes will be awarded in accordance with TICA Show Rules.

Health: This is a non-vetted show. Any cat showing signs of illness, parasites, or fungus will be escorted from the show hall, along with any other cats owned, housed, or agented by the same exhibitor. All entries should be vaccinated against feline viral rhinotracheitis, calici and distemper (panleukopenia), and should test negative for feline leukemia and FIV (feline AIDS). TICA Show Rules require all claws, front and back, be clipped prior to judging.

Kittens: All kittens (pedigreed or HHP) entered for competition must be at least 4 months old, but less than 8 months old, on the day of the show. Kittens in the show hall for sale and/or exhibition must be at least 3 months old.

Household Pets: Household Pet Adults (8 months old and up) must be spayed/neutered. Household Pet Adults are judged in 10 color/pattern divisions. If you are not sure which color and/or pattern class your cat belongs in, please send a color picture of your cat with your entry. Photos will be returned at check-in. You will also have an opportunity Saturday morning to have the senior judge make a final determination if the color/pattern are still in question.

Benching & Supplies: Each entry will be provided with a single benching cage measuring 24"L x 22"Wx22"H. Full cage size is 48"L x 22"W x 22"H. You may pay extra with a single entry to have the full (double) cage for your cat. All cages must be covered on the sides and top. You may want to bring a rug, blanket, etc. for the bottom of the cage and other items to make your cat feel more comfortable. No more than one adult cat or 2 kittens are allowed per single cage. You will need to bring litter pan(s), food bowls, and food. Litter will be provided.

For Sale/Exhibition Cages: For sale/exhibition cages are available ONLY for exhibitors with other cats entered. See Summary Sheet for price.

Clerks & Stewards: ARE NECESSARY FOR THE SHOW TO HAPPEN! If you would like to clerk, please indicate so on your summary sheet, along with any judge preferences. Licensed clerks will be given priority and judge requests will be honored to the best of our ability. Clerks will be compensated $60 for two days or $30 for one day, plus lunch and a marked catalog. Stewards may also be needed. Please let us know if you will have someone available.

For the comfort of our exhibitors and spectators: The show hall will be designated as non-smoking. Children are always welcome at our shows, but for the enjoyment of all we request that youngsters be supervised at all times. Show management reserves the right to ask parents to control or remove disruptive children as well as any other disruptive exhibitors, spectators, etc.

Liability: Neither Alabama Paws & Claws, TICA, the Bessemer Civic Center or any hotel can be held liable for loss, theft, accidents to animals, personal property, exhibitors, or their guests.

OUR SHOW THEME: "Sweet Home Alabama" The theme is not limited to the Lynard Skynard song, but includes all things unique and/or dear to Alabamians, i.e. first Mardi Gras originating in Mobile, Bear Bryant, football, etc. Should you choose to decorate on certain historical theme - please keep it tasteful.

REGIONAL BANQUET: Dinner and ticket order details are included at the banquet link below. The banquet will be held at a facility that does have a dress code of coat & tie for men and a minimum of a nice (cocktail-ish) pantsuit for women. The view of the city is fabulous and will be well worth the money to attend.
